I’ve taken your free CD’s. No, you cant have them back

Note to retailers: If you leave large quantities of CD’s free for the taking…I will take them…all.

So, yesterday I had five flippin cavities filled (I have to go back) and to vent my frustration and pent up energy from sitting in the chair for many hours I decided to help myself to the free sample display in the nearby Daves Supermarket of earthlink cd’s. Go advertise somewhere else, and quit wasting natural reasources. These 71 cd’s join my pile of JEEP cd’s that they’ve decided to permenantly loan to me. I figure once I have enough I use the servaces GreenDisk (google em) offers and recycle all of em. I think I need a few more tho…

The Blogging Breed

As I surf blogexplosion again this morning I was struck by a thought. There are some bloggers out there that are really really self absorbed an/or think that what they have to say is the most important thing. For example, blogs that in the “about me description” or equivalent you actually tell me that you think you’re a bitch, bad-ass, hardcore, whatever, you should portray this through your writing, not feed it to your reader on a spoon, and if you cant do that? Maybe you should re-think your attitude. Now I realize that the whole idea of starting a blog is the hope that someone will come by and like what you’ve said enough to come by again and well, read what you have to say, after all, who doesn’t. But don’t force on my that I have to like your stuff, cause honestly, that’s the attitude I want to say that some blogs put out. Its like their saying, I’m me, now read this damn it. I’ll read you if I want to, plain and simple.

Second, who’s this Bob Gentry fellow, shouldn’t he be at work or something? Every time I’m on BE his site pops up, how many hours are you on there pal?!

Bugger, I had to go help carry in groceries and have lost my enthusiasm to write. More later I suppose. I’ve resolved to try and get a more “renegadeish” header image up there during my break, we’ll see how that goes. Cheers

Evasion

So a few weeks ago I finished a book called Evasion, purchased directly from the distro for six bucks it was a fun read. At first I was worried that because I had acquired if from an anarchist organization (I’m already on the list, don’t worry) that the book itself would be preaching to me and try and convert me, twasnt the case. Evasion follows the journey of a recent high school grad as he basically rejects the normal path and starts living on rooftops, in university libraries and lord knows where else. The book describes scams like left handing, receipt scam and how hee got free copies at kinko’s. Perhaps one of the things I found “wrong” with what this kid was doing is just how much he was dependant on others…charity, even if it wasnt the fullest of the definition. But, I did find it all very interesting for I had no experience or…understanding of the world in which he lives, dumpster diving, squatting and stealing to keep oneself alive. My description really doesn’t do it justice, why not read it yourself? 6 bucks gets you the book and while it was written awhile ago it could have just as well be written yesterday (albeit some of the scams he runs wouldn’t work now).

Its lead me on a little adventure of my own, learning more about stickering, stenciling on walls, graffiti and the likes. I think indirectly the book has mad me realize that we really do live in a sterile environment, no conversation or interaction with strangers, no expanding our limits. Sad really.

What’d you do Christmas Morning?

What’d you do Christmas morning? I’m asked. The usual, opened presents, enjoyed to morning of not getting out of my PJ’s until noon, good stuff. I respond, oh, and we sang about racism, how it sucks to be me and how the internet is for porn! What?! There jaw drops open at the last one. Yes indeed! I respond.

Its Saturday, mid-afternoon and my brother walks into the computer room and tells me to goto this site (opens in a new window). I watch and basically crack up, after all, it’s a real song and put in the hands of people who have way to much time on there hands, well, the results is that funny video. So my brother tells my whole family(yes, my parents have seen it too) that its from a musical in NY called Avenue Q.

Christmas morning again, my brother comes downstairs and opens his stocking to find that Santa has found the soundtrack to the musical, which promptly goes in the cd player and songs sung by a twisted Bert, Ernie and cookie monster fill the living room. Ah yes, the Christmas spirit is in the air. Now, “the internet is for porn, the internet is for porn. So grab your dick and doubleclick for porn porn porn!”

Back from the brink

First let me apologize for the complete lack of posting that’s been going on here recently, over the next couple of posts I’ll try and bring everyone up to speed. But first, let me with everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy Chanukah. So lets see where to start, my brothers in from California spending a few days with us which is making the house feel much more full, bu hey, that’s to be expected. His present to my dad and myself was tickets to the Browns vs. Stealers game this past Saturday, yeah, the one where the browns got their asses kicked. It was one hell of a first football game experience for me, the Stealers/Browns rivalry has been going on for many many years so at both games the visiting team is usually well represented, this past weekend was no exception and by the end of the game it seemed like we were the only fans left. All of this holiday stuff has been nice, seeing people, catching up, getting a new digital camera… As a side note to that you can expect the pages of this blog to be flooded with video and pictures as I play around with my new toy. And on that note, I head off, more later, I promise.

New York, New York

Now, I a comment on this whole New York transit strike thing is worthy of gracing my pages, I’ll be quick and to the point, I promise. As someone who doesn’t live in New York, has never been to New York and has only read what the two sides don’t agree on/want I’ve come the simple conclusion that the works should get what you want. Here’s my reasoning. Yesterday the city of New York was throwing around absurd amounts of money that they claimed the city was losing for every day of the strike, today people have complained about ghastly waits and outrageous times it took to get to work. Now here’s my though, for a city that depends that heavily on their public transportation workers perhaps you can give them an 8% salary increase.
Just a thought.
