Ah yes, summers over
Well, today officially marked the end of summer vacation as we I returned for my senior year of high school. And not a moment to soon, lemme tell ya. I returned to the full implementation of Small schools, as well as some advisory shit. So, aside from 17 minuet periods, an early dismissal, getting lost (wait, is that supposed to happen), and felling pretty damn annoyed with it all, the first day was great! Yeah, not. So first off what’s this advisory shit? They want us seniors to be mentoring type people to the underclassmen once we get to know the others in our advisory group, under the direction of a teacher of course. So today we met twice (…why?) and normally we meet each and every damn Wednesday. Well, now there’s something to look forward to. A nap period between first and second and shortened lunch periods once a week. Hey, you know this advisory period, it’s got another name too…homeroom!!!
So, what are small schools you ask? Well, you remember in Middle School when you had “teams”? Well, it’s pretty much that but in high school. You stay with the same teachers all four years, the same classmates too. Basically you get to know your teacher’s better and learning just blossoms, yadda yadda yadda. Sounds fine, just leave me out of it. The Class of 06 is the last class from my high school to graduate that wont be in small schools, which is fine by…all 561 of us (that’ll be around 500 by the time we graduate).
So us seniors get to laugh at everyone else. That’s basically what it comes down too.
So, what am I taking? well, senior year you actually get a choice (bout damn time).
1. Law
2. Symphony
3. Advanced Math
4. Mass Media/ Political Philosophy
5. Lunch
6. US Government AP/Satire
7. Biology 2 AP
Semester 1/ Semester 2
I’m sure as hell looking forward to it!
