BlogDay 2005

Blogday 2005 has started, what is blogday you ask? Well (from website)

BlogDay was initiated with the belief that bloggers should have one day which will be dedicated to know other bloggers, from other countries or areas of interests. In that day Bloggers will recommend about them to their Blog visitors.

It’s recommended to list 5 sites not from your country, that don’t necessarily represent your views etc…So, 5 sites that I would recommend eh? I think I’m a stickler for photo blogs, as my five contain two of em:
GhoFu
A German blog updated by two guys. Check out there pictures, not half bad eh?
Pixel Tigris I first stumbled upon this site when I was on Blogexplosion with my first blog, when I came back with this one and went back to Blogexplosion this site was still in my favorites, with good reason, just another site I like… (Hungary)
You Know You wanna Maybe I just like the name and that why its here, who knows. Go check her out, she’s probebly the most well established blog thats on this list of mine, but well, theres a reason that she’s ranked on all those blog ranking sites. The only problem with her site is that I couldnt figure out where she was from, didnt try to hard tho.
Cmh Blog From my friends to the North (thats Canada for those who failed geography) I bring you this site, I probebly chose it because of the Cabin 2005 entry, maybe that or I get a vibe that reminds me of my Canadian Aunt…
And last but not least(hot damn this last blog is a republican!)
The MalcontentWow, a Republican that uses public transportation (oh, they live in New York City?) and doesnt like SUV’s. Holy shit whats the world coming to!? And I stand corrected this un’s pritty well established too. Hop on over for some political and social commentary.
And one more for good measure
Your Guide thru New Zealand come in as a forign exchange student or study abroad type thing in New Zealand, hell, I just think that in itself is cool, I’ll elaborate more sometime.

Hats off to those five! (six…)

Ah yes, summers over

Well, today officially marked the end of summer vacation as we I returned for my senior year of high school. And not a moment to soon, lemme tell ya. I returned to the full implementation of Small schools, as well as some advisory shit. So, aside from 17 minuet periods, an early dismissal, getting lost (wait, is that supposed to happen), and felling pretty damn annoyed with it all, the first day was great! Yeah, not. So first off what’s this advisory shit? They want us seniors to be mentoring type people to the underclassmen once we get to know the others in our advisory group, under the direction of a teacher of course. So today we met twice (…why?) and normally we meet each and every damn Wednesday. Well, now there’s something to look forward to. A nap period between first and second and shortened lunch periods once a week. Hey, you know this advisory period, it’s got another name too…homeroom!!!
So, what are small schools you ask? Well, you remember in Middle School when you had “teams”? Well, it’s pretty much that but in high school. You stay with the same teachers all four years, the same classmates too. Basically you get to know your teacher’s better and learning just blossoms, yadda yadda yadda. Sounds fine, just leave me out of it. The Class of 06 is the last class from my high school to graduate that wont be in small schools, which is fine by…all 561 of us (that’ll be around 500 by the time we graduate).
So us seniors get to laugh at everyone else. That’s basically what it comes down too.
So, what am I taking? well, senior year you actually get a choice (bout damn time).
1. Law
2. Symphony
3. Advanced Math
4. Mass Media/ Political Philosophy
5. Lunch
6. US Government AP/Satire
7. Biology 2 AP
Semester 1/ Semester 2

I’m sure as hell looking forward to it!

Day at the park II

scrappers

For the second Sunday in a row I was at a baseball game. This time it was at a Mahoning Valley Scrappers game. My whole family made the hour and a half drive to Niles, OH (minus my brother who’s moved out and is working in California) where we watched the Scrappers take on the Doubleday’s. Unfortunately they lost 9-8.
With this game I think I’ve seen every level of the Cleveland Indians farm club, and all but two teams. I’ve seen the Buffalo Bisons in Rhode Island, or maybe it was in Mass, whatever, a border town(Man, nothing beats being the only Indians fans in the place!) , the Akron Areos in Norwich, CT (can you say yelling?) where I got now major leaguer John MacDonald’s autograph, the Eastlake Captains and today the Scrappers. That goes from Triple A, Double A, Single A then Single A short season. Hehe, even though they lost it wasn’t that bad of a game, fun to go see another small stadium, which was a bit difficult to find being situated behind a mall… While the scrappers lost my guys up in Toronto won, keeping them only one game out of the wildcard. Not to shabby guys. Hopefully the Indians will see some October action yet!

Racial Boundries

I’d like to share an experiance with you about last night. And no, its not the fact that we 4 teenagers played on a playground, bought stuff and had a picnic at 10pm at night. Last night as we messed around on the playground, tromping through stuff that was not built for people six foot one I befriended a young black girl who I promptly played with for, well, quite I while I suppose. As I walked away from fending off imaginary monsters, rescuing young madens from monsters by pulling them up the slide (we got it on the 4th try) I remembered her smile and I realized how much better life was when I was 6. Life knows no racial boundries, no styreotypes. Kids just wanna have fun! Why cant grownups be like that too? Where is it engrained in our minds that there has to be a difference between races, or that people with a different skin are automatically different. Sigh

Blogs and stuff

So I’m an editor with a blog search engine/directory type place and I see many many blogs a day and decide their fate, to be accepted or not to be. That is the question! So I see my fair share of blogs in one sitting. I’m on blogexplosion trying to get the word out about this, and my directory where other people are trying to get the word out about their blogs (hmm). So right, I see my fair share of blogs in a sitting, on blogexplosion it’s often the same blog over and over, but never at the directory, and frankly, the quality of blogs we’ve (I’ve) been accepting hasn’t been so great. Well today I was happy to accept http://www.rskphotography.com/photoblog/ I find this blog to have potential, and wish him (her?) the best in his work and pictures. Agree with me or not but I like the blog and it wins my pick for a blog to keep an eye on! And now for something completely different

New Camera

So I’ve decided its time for a new digital camera, my elderly easy share kodak camera has been feeling a little mis-used and outdated so I’ve decided its time to send him off to another home. Being the…income challanged individual I am I’ve been checking out places like Overstock.com and refurbdepot.com, while both places offer good deals for great camera’s I’m somewhat stupified as to what to get. I want a camera with optical zoom, preferably some scene selection and some control over the finer details of taking a picture. I want to be able to control the camera a bit more. While looking at something in a viewfinder and clicking a button is all good and well, I’d like to actually have to think sometime in my life…oh wait, thats what schools for. So if anybody has any suggestions on where to get a good deal on a camera (other than your brother-in-law’s cousins friend of a friend) or has any ideas about what kinda camera I should buy, please, by all means leave me a note!
